When it comes to Google and its ambition for augmented reality, it feels like we’ve entered a sci-fi film where everyone wears glasses that can translate languages and scan books while looking totally chill.
Shahram Izadi, the captain steering the Android XR ship, recently dropped knowledge bombs at a TED talk, presenting prototype smart glasses that sound cooler than the latest iPhone (sorry, not sorry). Picture this: your glasses not only translating your broken French but also scanning that old hardcover you had to drag around because you thought it made you look smart.
It’s hard not to notice the echoes of their previous attempts at AR like Project Moohan—are we looking at something groundbreaking or merely a shiny rehash? If you followed last December’s hands-on experience, you might be feeling déjà vu.
The real question is: will Google’s XR innovations elevate our lives above the mundane or simply serve as a snazzy way to check your emails while pretending to read War and Peace? Only time will tell!
